Design considerations

This section of my website discusses how my symbolic camera structured both my website and my filming process, it also explores how I chose to incorporate photos into my website.

The design of this website was intended to be synonymous with not only my footage but also my symbolic camera. While I think the motivations around filming the flower market was to an extent opportunistic, I think the direction and focus of my film were moulded around my symbolic camera. As can be seen in the pictures opposite, I chose to cover my camera in a variety of images of flowers, I think the abundance of variety is reflected in the videos and pictures I took at the market. I made my symbolic camera shortly before filming which means that both took place at the beginning of Spring, surrounded by images of flowers, I was naturally drawn to include them on my camera as they're representative of new beginnings. I think this is a fitting description of what a camera creates; freedom, the camera is a tool that allows you to capture, manipulate, focus and ignore aspects of life. It gives the user complete power of re-invention through perception, thus its constantly creating new perspectives and interpretations, each photo presents the opportunity for a new beginning.

Exclusive Flower Care Tips

The background of my website ranges between a block yellow colour, print images of plants and more neutral colours, this combination of colours meant that when incorporating my own images, it was necessary for them to be edited slightly. This was necessary so they worked well with the theme of my website, the editing process also enabled me to emphasis certain aspects of my photos through the use of different lighting filters and other editing tools. This was not an extensive process as I truly liked and appreciated the original pictures I had taken, but using the editing tools helped to elevate my pictures, which is particularly useful as I do not have a lot of experiencing using professional camera equipment. Below I have included several before and after images of my editing process.
